The greatest Heat Loss in the Winter and Gain in the Summer is through the ceiling. If the attic floor insulation is inadequate, your home wastes energy and costs more to operate. The current minimum standard for Insulation in our area is R-30 (“R” represents the resistance to heat transfer). The Department of Energy recommendation is R-49. Most homes built prior to the early 90s have less than R-30 attic insulation.
